Raffaella Pozzetti
(Metropolitan Market), the local market ‘to be exported’ opens in Milan. The internal area of the structure presents deli counters and food shops for approximately 2,000 typical products, from freshly baked bread to meat, which can be consumed on the spot, too. The large outdoor area contains a real market, from fresh fruit and vegetable stands to street food. In addition, it will be used for some events, too. The peculiarity of this project, owned by Unaproa (‘Unione nazionale tra le organizzazioni dei produttori ortofrutticoli, agrumari e di frutta in guscio’, National Union among vegetable, citrus and nut producer organizations), consists in that it is a format designed to be exported. Among the targets: New York, London, Dubai, and Tokyo. And just in the Japanese capital as early as next October the first temporary store ‘Mercato Metropolitano’ is expected to open.
