Quebec and Ontario are the two Canadian provinces with the largest share of wine consumed, and Italian wines have reached 45.5% in Quebec and 35.9% in Ontario of total wine imported between January and August 2014 (data from ICE - Italian Institute for foreign Trade). This year Canada will host the first date of the fifth edition of Simply Italian Great Wines Americas Tour, a series of promotional and educational events (see picture) focused on Italian wine organized by the IEM company (International Exhibition Management) of Verona.
Canada: 20% of the import share of wine is Italian
IEM has chosen Canada, which is ranked fourth among the main importers of wine in the world, for 2015. Italian wine shows a steady growth in popularity and presence in this market, which in recent years has reached 20% of the import share of wine in value and the 17% in volume.
Simply the best awards
The 9th of February, the Museum of Fine Arts AGO-Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto has welcome Federdoc, the Union of the wine Consortiums from Veneto, Italian wine style and promotion, the Chamber of Commerce of Udine, the Union of the wine Consortiums from Friuli, and more than 50 Italian wineries whose quality wines will be presented to 400 workers in the sector. The Second date has been the 11th of February, at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami, Florida, where the "Simply the Best" prizes will be awarded, for the third consecutive year. The "Simply the Best" awards have been created by IEM and are awarded by a jury of journalists and American experts in the sector to celebrate the ambassadors of Italian food and wine in the US.
