It’s record for export of Made in Italy food and beverages outside the borders of the European Union with an 8% increase for an amount estimated at about 11 billion for 2013, equal to one third of the total agri-food shipments abroad. These figures emerge from an analysis of Coldiretti based on Istat data on foreign trade in the first eight months of the year. Wine is the most exported outside the EU with an estimated turnover of 2.5 billion euro in 2013. Significant export of pasta and fresh fruit and vegetables too with an estimated turnover in non-EU countries by about half a billion each in 2013; there are also important shipments of cheese and dairy products and meats.
