Italian wine and oil took the scene at the International Wine & Spirits Fair in Hong Kong. Over 100 Italian wine companies engaged in the 800 square meters of the Pavilion managed by the two brands of Veronafiere, Vinitaly and Sol & Agrifood, in collaboration with Ice.
For VeronaFiere general manager, Giovanni Mantovani: «Hong Kong is the 7th wine buyer in the world with almost 1.4 billion euros imported last year. If for France this is a fundamental reference market with an export value of 809 million euros, for us it is only the 25th destination, with a value of 39 million euros".
Even heavier, according to the Vinitaly Nomisma Wine Monitor Observatory on a custom basis, is the trend in the first nine months of this year, with a -17.4% in value for Italy against a further growth for France (+ 6.9%) and a pause on the global wine demand of the special Chinese administrative region (+ 0.6%). "We have always worked well with both institutions and Italian companies - added the president of Veronafiere, Maurizio Danese -. But now, here as in all of Asia, the time has come to make a critical mass all together to really make markets understand what Italy and our wine are. Alongside the business - concluded Danese - we believe we should work hard on training, and on this line we have been working for a long time ".
